FrontMotion Firefox Community Edition

Mozilla has ‘legacy setups’ (non-MSI) available for Firefox.
Most enterprises need to repackage these setups to customize the installation.

There’s a better alternative however, namely FrontMotion Firefox Community Edition. It is a customized version of Firefox with the ability to lock down settings through Active Directory using Administrative Templates. Similar to the lockdown settings in the mozilla.cfg configuration file on one computer, you can now use Administrative Templates to enforce these settings across your organization.

Therefore you can be efficient with the FrontMotion MSI installer that is targeted toward the corporate IT administrator with manageability and upgradeability in mind. Note the FrontMotion Firefox Community Edition is not Mozilla Firefox since there are code changes. FrontMotion Firefox Community Edition is freely available in many languages.

To deploy Firefox with extensions, use the Firefox Packaging Service.
The MSIs of FrontMotion’ both for the normal Firefox releases as well as the ESR releases are available in the Setup Store as well:

In the FrontMotion MSI, we included a configuration wizard where you can choose to remove all shortcuts and/or to disable the ‘first run Import Wizard’ screen:

GPO support

Starting with Firefox version 60, Mozilla has added GPO support for Enterprises with Firefox for Enterprise.

Check Firefox Quantum for Enterprise video for more information on GPO support.

Windows Group Policy ADMX Templates are available on GitHub.
