Article summary

With the help of device collections, you can organize devices within a network based on your own criteria and configure and deliver packages or deployments simultaneously on multiple devices across a network.

Device collections can be accessed from Manage > Identities or Devices > Memberships.

Keep in mind that only devices running a Liquit Universal Agent/ Liquit Workspace Agent can be added to a collection.

The Type of a collection (Dynamic, Static) cannot be changed after creation.

Device collections table

Two types of collections are available:

If you need a dynamical grouping which entails attributes other than Platform and Device, we recommend using the contexts feature. For more information, see Contexts.

The only built-in device collection is the All devices.

Table toolbar

To create a new device collection, click on the enlarge Create button; to view the details of a device collection or edit it, double-click its entry or select the collection and click the edit1x Edit button.

From the table toolbar you can also access the wake1x.png Wake devices and create personalized views of the list, all of which are described in the following sections.

Wake devices

If the server is in the same LAN as devices, the wake1x.png Wake devices button is able to wake computers that are shutdown or in sleep mode (WoL). If the server is in the cloud, the wake1x.png Wake devices button does not function.

Views

Views can be accessed by clicking on the views.png Views button in the device collections table toolbar.
The default view contains all your device collections in alphabetic ascending order, and only a few columns: Name, Type, and Built-in.
You can create your own personalized view of the table, by filtering the device collections or adding/deleting columns and clicking Save as in the drop-down menu of views.png Views.
